It would be darn difficult to write a single straightforward profile within the context of this book –
‘THE BOOK OF RETRIBUTION’
Under the out-of-ordinary situation, the author’s profile could be split into 3 categories:
1) The Down to Earth
2) The Creative
and
3) The Altered Awareness Personality
The last category is the force behind the writing of ‘The Book of Retribution’.
The Down to Earth
Kwabena Kusi-Appouh was born on the 17th of October, 1960 in Kumasi, Ghana and as a baby
embarked on the sea journey with his mother to join his father in England where the latter had
eleven months earlier been posted as administrator attached to the London office of Ghana’s
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He had his early education at Oxford House School, Colchester, England between 1962 and 1966.
St. Helen’s School, London between 1966 and 1967, then Mora Road School (now Mora
School ), London, 1967-1968, when he returned to his native Ghana at the age of eight with his
parents after his father’s tenure as attached university administrator ended. He continued his
basic education at the university’s primary school up to 1972, when he entered Prempeh College
in Kumasi, Ghana, to commence secondary school education.
In 1979, he began his university education at the College of Art in the same but then renamed
University of Science and Technology (now re-named Kwame Nkrumah University of Science)
and technology again), embarking on a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design graduating in 1984
(should have been 1983 – a year in which no single Ghanaian graduated from any of the country’s
universities due to political turbulence of the times when Ghana was under bloody dictatorship –
the latter at ‘war’ with university students who were agitating for democratic governance).
He commenced National Service in the same College of Art in 1984 as a young teaching assistant
and continued full-time lecturing till his retirement in 2020 at the age of 60. In between, he spent a
few years off on study leave at age 33 in 1993 to embark on film studies, specializing in Animation
in Ghana’s premier film school, the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), in 1996. On
his resumption of duties at the University, he introduced Animation into the College of Art
curriculum in 1999, pioneering that and broader Film Studies there.
He is currently on post-retirement part-time lecturing as his department felt they still needed his
services.
The Creative
Running parallel to the above has been Kwabena’s gift of storytelling, manifesting in Graphic
Novels and children’s book writing and illustrating. He has several Graphic Novels and a couple
of illustrated Children’s books published on Amazon’s Kindle platform under the title series ‘The
Kuju Adventures’ and others. The Kuju Adventures were created in 1974 when he was just 14
years old in Prempeh College and briefly ran as a weekly series in Ghana’s leading weekly
newspaper – ‘The Mirror’ in 2004. A couple of his children’s stories also being turned into
animation productions. He does a little music on the side.
The Altered Awareness Personality
This has been a very much suppressed personality due to the possibly seemingly ridiculous
nature of it reflecting in the contents of this book. In a sudden episode of what he could best
describe as a sudden flash of awareness on a quiet day in the hostel of the film school he
attended in 1995, one thing led to another. Finding certain realizations in truths in human activity
more dramatic than the very fantasies of his graphic novels.
To summarize, with this new altered awareness he was able to identify certain patterns in
historical events (he has a keen interest in history ) that led him to the conclusion that there has
been a Mysterious Law of Retribution operating in the affairs of mankind throughout its
existence. A pattern he felt could determine future events based on events of today.
Making conclusions out of this new awareness of reasons behind past and coming deaths of
certain high-profile Ghanaian personalities together with the events of 7th October – the latter he
suppressed for fear of public ridicule as an ordinary person till the monumental tragic events of
That fateful seventh day of October in 2023 actually happened. Hot harshly prodding him on to put
All aside, share with humanity what he thinks is yet more to come – covering all civilisations.
What he can’t determine are timelines. 7th October taught him to teach humanity to be ready for
any karmic eventuality any day anytime as he initially erroneously thought the tragic events of
October 2023 was going to happen in the very distant future.
In this book are uncomfortable disclosures – not sparing even fellow Black Race – explaining the
source of racism against them and again even his own ethnic group, the Asante people of West
Africa. He feels humanity has to be conscious of certain truths – awareness of and acting upon as
early as possible that could potentially save the lives of millions in the future.
Kwabena is married with four children.
